How Often & How Much You Should Water Houseplants

Watering is the most common reason houseplants die — either too much or too little.

🌿 General Watering Rules:

  • Small plants: 2–3 times per week

  • Medium plants: Once every 4–6 days

  • Large indoor plants: Once a week

🚿 How much water?

Water until it drains from the bottom of the pot. This ensures roots receive enough moisture.

⚠️ Signs of overwatering:

  • Yellow leaves

  • Root rot

  • Fungus smell

🌱 Signs of underwatering:

  • Dry soil

  • Drooping leaves

  • Brown edges

Always check soil moisture before watering — your finger test works best!
